All The Books I Need in 2017: The Diversity Edition

Posted February 25, 2017 by Hannah in uncategorized / 4 Comments

My final edition of All The Books I Need! Whew, we made it guys. And these aren’t even all the books I need. I keep adding more and more to my TBR – how about you? Are you just as bad as I am?

2017 is my year of reading diversely – something I recognise that I do not do enough of. And I need to rectify that straight away. There are so many wonderful #OwnVoices out there that need to be heard, and as readers, we do ourselves a disservice by not listening to them – by not being educated by them. Here are just a few – the tip of the iceberg – of diverse books releasing this year that I’d love to read. As always, click on the book cover to be linked to Goodreads so you can add it to your TBR as well!

There are so many more books I could have added to this list, but then we’d be here all day! Do you have any suggestions of what books are diverse favourites? Please let me know – I’d love to hear what books you love too!

  1. The Hate U Give – I don’t think I can give this book enough praise. It’s beautiful, powerful and will be my favourite book for a very long time.
I also can’t wait to read When Dimple met Rishi, I’ve just heard amazing things about it. As well as Under Rose-Tainted Skies.

  2. I really love the fact that diverse books are getting such beautiful covers! People are covers snobs, whether they like to admit it or not, so to see such pretty and enticing covers makes me so happy 😀

It looks like you have some great reads on your TBR, Hannah! One of my favourite diverse books I’ve read this year is A Crown of Wishes by Roshani Chokshi, which is the sequel to The Star-Touched Queen, which I really loved. The lyrical way in which she writes is so beautiful, and I loved the romance in both of them, as well!

I’m really looking forward to reading Finding Nevo by Nevo Zisin, who is an Australian author. The book is about their journey and life experiences as a trans young person. It sounds amazing!

I hope you end up loving these books, Hannah 😀 And finding more great ones to read as the year goes on!
