May 2017 New Releases Giveaway Hop!

Posted May 14, 2017 by Hannah in Giveaways / 18 Comments

Hello fellow book lovers! It’s that time of month again, the best time of the month – the New Releases Giveaway Hop!

It’s May, which means we’ve been in 2017 for five months now, and it’s going to be a super month of books. Of course. Every month is a super month in book land, but May is particularly awesome. It’s going to be a hard choice, that’s for sure. In series wrapping up, Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han will give you all the feels, and then there’s that book, A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J Maas, but we won’t go there. There are some amazing diverse contemporaries releasing this month, and I’m super excited to read When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon and I Believe in a Thing Called Love by Maurene Goo. On the fantasy side of things, Sara B Larson gives us her new book, Dark Breaks the Dawn and Renee Adhieh’s new series, Flame in the Mist is also released.

Who needs reality when you have books, right?

Anyway! Let’s get down to business!

So let’s without further ado head on to the best part of this post – the giveaway! Normal rules apply, but for those who are new (or don’t remember), here is the gist of it:

ONE (1) winner will win ONE (1) May 2017 New Release to the value of AUD$30. And as long as The Book Depository  ships to you, anyone can enter! Not sure if that’s you? The winners will have 48 hours from me contacting them to say hello, or another winner/s will be chosen. Side note: I am more than happy if the winner wants to choose two books up to the value of AUD$30, but both books MUST be released in May, or else it does not count.

December New Releases Giveaway Hop! (INTL)

Posted December 14, 2016 by Hannah in Giveaways / 65 Comments

HOW IS THERE ONLY LESS THAN TWO WEEKS UNTIL CHRISTMAS AND LESS THAN THREE UNTIL 2017????

I don’t understand where this year has gone – it’s flown by so fast and so much has happened, I really just need a Time Turner for Christmas, thank you and goodbye. I’m back in Sydney where it is stinking hot, so if you would like to trade me one hot summer for one freezing cold (snowy) winter, I will be very happy!

This year is a funny one for me – it’s the first Christmas I’ll be spending not with family, which will be strange. The UK has spoilt me for Christmas now; for me Christmas is winter, cold and (hopefully) snowy. Once you have a white Christmas, I think it’s hard to go back to our Summer ones here in Australia, even though that’s what I’ve grown up with! On the plus side, I had a lovely time with my family in WA at the end of November, and I brought back a ton of books with me, so happy dance! Aside from binging on Hallmark Christmas movies, I’m finishing off watching Jane the Virgin and Stitchers, two of my fave TV shows – and I still have to watch the Gilmore Girls revival!

So let’s without further ado head on to the best part of this post – the giveaway! Normal rules apply, but for those who are new (or don’t remember), here is the gist of it:

ONE (1) winner will win ONE (1) November New Release to the value of AUD$30. And as long as The Book Depository ships to you, anyone can enter! Not sure if that’s you? Check here. The winners will have 48 hours from me contacting them to say hello, or another winner/s will be chosen.

Last month’s winner was Kait, who chose This Is Our Story by Ashley Elston. What a great choice!

It’s NOVEMBER! How is it November – and almost midway, at that??? I don’t know!

EDIT: I realise that this post is a couple of days late and I didn’t realise that the scheduling wasn’t set up right! Forgive me!

I feel like these posts have been a great little chat between you and me, as I feel like not a lot happens (right now) for me to do weekly or monthly recaps, so dear reader, I hope that you are well. I know the beginning of November was a bit shocking for everyone, and we are still feeling the effects of the US Election around the world, and I just wanted to let you, my lovely followers, that you are never alone and always have a safe space with me. My favourite poem asks, “Do I dare, disturb the universe?” and I feel like this is my creed. DO dare to disturb the universe and make your voice heard!

On a happier note, my exams are now over, and I go on holiday at the end of the week and I’m so excited, as I’m going home to see my family who I haven’t seen in six months (and longer for my pets!). I’m going to be spending my time reading, sleeping, and #NaNoWriMoing! Lucky we’ve got some amazing books out this month to keep us entertained! And thank you to everyone who wished me happy birthday last month, I truly felt blessed by all your comments!

ANYWAY. On to more important stuff. Like the giveaway! ONE (1) winner will win ONE (1) November New Release to the value of AUD$30. And as long as The Book Depository ships to you, anyone can enter! Not sure if that’s you? Check here. The winners will have 48 hours from me contacting them to say hello, or another winner/s will be chosen.

Last month’s winners were Penny who chose The Starlit Wood: New Fairy Tales by Parisien and Wolfe & Layla who chose Fear The Drowning Deep by Sarah Glenn Marsh – lucky ducks!

October New Releases Giveaway Hop!

Posted October 14, 2016 by Hannah in Giveaways / 45 Comments

HELLO OCTOBER!

Apart from being the spooky month, October is also my birthday month (yay!) which I share with the fabulous Claire at YA Madness (no seriously, we share the same birth date and everything, it’s awesome!). Sadly, that’s the only exciting thing in my life at the moment, because university finishes at the end of the month (I’ve only got 1 exam this semester!), so all you’ll be seeing from me is Top Ten posts and about three reviews…but don’t worry, November should lead me getting into more exciting stuff as I plan to read like a million books over uni break, and I’m going to be Best. Blogger. Ever. Or so I wish.

ANYWAY. On to more important stuff. Like the giveaway! Because it’s my birthday, I’m going to give TWO lucky ducks to choose an October New Release EACH! That’s right, there will be TWO (2) winners who will get to choose ONE (1) October New Release each to the value of AUD$30. And as long as The Book Depository ships to you, anyone can enter! Not sure if that’s you? Check here. Both winners will have 48 hours from me contacting them to say hello, or another winner/s will be chosen.

A big congrats to last month’s winner, Ashfa, who chose Empire of Storms as her book! Such a good choice.

Blog Tour: Vernal by Randi Cooley Wilson

Posted July 2, 2016 by Hannah in Blog Tours, Giveaways / 1 Comment

vernal randi cooley wilsonI’m so excited today to host Randi Cooley Wilson, new adult author of fantasy and paranormal romance! Fantasy is one of my favourite genres right now, and I definitely am keen to explore more new adult fantasy worlds. Randi talks her favourites in this guest post.

First, a little bit about Vernal!

vernalSerena has a bright future etched in stone.
Tristan has a dark past that haunts him.
Together, they have a love that can never be.

Sheltered, and unable to escape her bloodline, Serena St. Michael has spent the last two years training at the Royal Protector Academy. Struggling with a dark past, Tristan Gallagher’s current assignment is to protect a lifetime of secrets. One chance encounter will change everything. Serena must decide if she will follow her heart, forsaking all she’s ever known and risking a future worse than non-existence. Tristan will break every rule to save Serena, even if he can’t keep her. In their world of darkness, one love will ignite an ancient war. When pasts collide with the present, and secrets are revealed, will love be enough? Or will one lie destroy it all?

When you’ve hidden behind a mask for so long, would you reveal yourself for love? Vernal, the first novel in The Royal Protector Academy series is a dangerously exciting and darkly romantic tale that will take your breath away.

I am a huge fan of fantasy literature. As an author, one of my favorite things to write and design within a storyline is the actual art of world building. To visually create something from nothing but words and your imagination, that a reader can get lost in, is the epitome of fantasy writing. Personally, I love to be taken on a journey where the lines of realism and escapism blur. I believe that most of us who read, have an innate desire to explore and be driven to a state of awe. We crave transportation out of the day-to-day mundane tasks and activities into a whole other world filled with mystery and adventure. We love to lose ourselves in a good fantasy. Step out of this world and into a new one. Check out my top 5 favorite fantasy worlds!

  1. Forgotten Realm

Dungeons & Dragons fans this is for you. I read somewhere that creators of the game have said that the Forgotten Realm is a place that is connected to Earth, however, most people have forgotten about this ‘other world’. It’s filled with strange topographies, dangerous creatures and powerful gods. All this in a reality where magic and the supernatural are real. Who wouldn’t want to visit this?

  1. Shangri-La by James Hilton

Shangri-La is the mythological kingdom featured in the 1933 novel Lost Horizon by James Hilton. It’s described in the book as a mystical, harmonious valley. An earthly paradise or utopia, where everyone is isolated from the outside world, but is happy. Inhabitors of this fantasy world live beyond the normal lifespan and seem almost immortal.

  1. Camelot

I love the legend of King Arthur. In my opinion, it’s one of the most romantic fantasy tales. It contains everything I love in a fantasy story: courts, chivalry, forbidden love, royal obligations, knights, etc. The Arthurian world and realm is one of those fantasy worlds that I simply adore because it blurs the lines between realism and escapism. It’s designed after real cities, but it’s actual location is never revealed.

  1. Asgard

Norse gods portrayed by Chris Hemsworth? Yes, please.  A small planetary body that exists on another dimensional plane. Sign me up! I am a sucker for the fictional realm and capital city within the Marvel Comics universe. Plus, Thor lives there. Enough said.

  1. Middle Earth

J.R.R. Tolkien is the first author to have taken me away to fictional fantasy worlds when I was introduced to Middle Earth, the setting of the epic Lord of the Rings series. I am a sucker for a character struggle, especially when it’s to control the world if you’re angelic, elf, or demonic. Through in dragons and fantasy creatures of all kinds and that is a fantasy world I’d like to visit. Tolkien said it best when referring to Middle Earth, “it’s a different stage of imagination.”
